Security and Privacy

The problem of privacy and the Internet is continuing to grow and is becoming a major problem for everyone. The reading "The Wild West of Privacy" says it best by saying We are fast approaching a privacy crisis in the United States.

Major everyday websites that we use are collecting our information and passing it on to advertisers who have no right to our information. Big data brokers have developed tools that allow them to know more about us then we know about ourselves (The Wild West of Privacy) this is scary to think about because no one has the right to know our information unless granted permission by us and the Internet is now becoming very normal to this type of activity occurring. We are so used to going to our social media sites and other websites that we don't realize we are putting all our information online for everyone to see.

One way people end up ignoring this is by not reading the terms and agreement and just click that they agree to what the company is saying. I think somewhere in there the company states that your information may be used in other places. This is the way of the company saying "We told you so!". We have to be careful about where we are putting our information and personal stuff. The internet is growing and will continue to grow and invade our privacy's and we have to be careful every step of the way.

People should be able to see the information that is collected on them. For instance, there are companies that compile scores about people (The Wild West of Privacy). This is just crazy to think about, some companies just gather information about you and you don't even know it yourself I think people need to know anything and everything that happens next to their name. It's crazy to think that their may be some stuff out their about myself that I still do not know about.

The problem here is that we are not careful, we need to open our eyes and realize that our privacy is being invaded almost everyday and take the steps necessary to avoid it happening even further.
