World Wide Web

I believe the future of the World Wide Web is very bright and it is something that is continuing to grow each day. So many companies are thinking of brilliant ideas to enhance a users web browsing experience. I think more companies are deciding to go the search engine route after seeing the success that it has given Google.com over the years. As stated in the readings, even yahoo wants to come back into the search engine game. As stated by the article, "Mark Zuckerberg says Facebook will Compete Directly Against Google As A Search Engine" Zuckerbergs' ambitions are for Facebook to be "more" than "any web search engine" (Edwards) this means that companies are looking to better the way people search things and Zuckerberg actually wants to develop something in which you can actually ask the search engine a question like "What is my friends favorite restaurant". This is the way I see the World Wide Web going, I think we will continue to see companies such as Google, Yahoo and Facebook continuing to enhance and making new positive changes.

The Cloud refers to a type of computing that relies on sharing computer resources rather than having local servers or personal devices to handle applications. Cloud is also another name for the internet because different services such as servers, and applications are delivered to another computer and device through the internet.

  1. If Facebook does become a search engine, wouldn't it loose it's reputation for being known as a social website?
If people try to create a better "Search Engine" I highly doubt its going to beat Google because lets face it, EVERYONE knows Google. Its plain and simple. And if there is another engine, it will steal beat it.

  2. First of all FAcebook is a social network and not a search engine Zuckerberg said they have a bigger index, its because they have over billions of users, the fact that it will become a search engine it will cause a huge competition and we wont know how to use either of them!

  3. I was asking myself the same question throughout reading your post about Facebook being a search engine. I'm pretty sure Facebook is a social media like Twitter.

  4. I agree that the World Wide Web is in fact growing. However the problems with other companies going into the search engine. I mean look at Bing trying to win over Google. It just won't happen.
