First Blog post Question:

Hey everyone!

My name is Waqar Khan and this is my blogspot! Hope you guys enjoy it.

I feel like a course can really benefit from using Web 2.0 technologies such as Twitter and blogs. I feel this way because I think Web technologies are changing the way everything works which is why I believe integrating Twitter and blogs into a course can actually bring some positive change to the ways that students learn. This process will take away from the traditional way of teaching and will create a better connection with their peers and most importantly the professor. According to the article "Classroom technology effective when used as additional tool" Michael Wesch who has a technology-focused class which rely heavily on Twitter said that this method of teaching has increased the bond between the professor and the student, which he feels is an extremely important factor in comprehensive learning. There are many other ways a course can benefit from using twitter but some that stood out to me are from the article "60 ways to use Twitter in The Classroom by Category", using twitter can create ambient office hours, a professor can stay in touch with his students in a unique fun way and answer any questions at any given time, I really like this method of office hours compared to the traditional email style. The other way that stood out to me would be using Twitter as a Bulletin board to announce any new class news or cancelling classes, many professors just send out an email and many students do not get a chance to check their emails but I think twitter would make announcements like that a lot easier to see. These web technologies can greatly effect a course and I think many professors should begin considering using these methods.
